This document outlines the history of the divestment law (P.L. 2021 Chapter 231) and the Divest Maine coalition’s work to hold MainePERS accountable.

Based on our interpretation of the law, we believe that MainePERS is breaking the law by failing to meet the 2026 deadline to divest from fossil fuels.
